The Sport and Recreation Alliance
The Sport and Recreation Alliance will pledge to:
- Make sport and recreation volunteering more representative and more accessible for young people
- Publicly affirm the importance of youth social action for the sport and recreation sector
- Encourage our members to support the campaign and encourage them to create youth social action opportunities
The Sport and Recreation Alliance brings together the sport and recreation sector and supports members to tackle challenges and take advantage of opportunities. We are the voice of the sector with Government, policy makers and the media. We help get the nation active at the grassroots by providing advice, support and guidance.
We believe engaging and supporting young people in the governance of sport should be a fundamental component of an NGB’s ethos. Many NGB’s within the sector have already set out to provide their young members with a voice through the development of youth boards, councils, forums and groups; our aim is not only to showcase these efforts towards approaching youth governance, but to create a model of best practice from which other NGB’s in the sector can implement and adapt to.
