  • Help a million young people gain skills and experience through Sky Academy, equipping them to help others within their communities and beyond.
  • Let young people know about youth social action and how they can get involved.
  • Use our recruitment processes to encourage young people to tell us about their youth social action experience, and let them know how much we value the experience they gain through it.
  • Provide all Sky people with two days paid volunteering time each year and create opportunities for employees to leverage their skills and expertise on behalf of young people.
  • Encourage other businesses to make their own pledges to Step up to Serve.
Sky believes in the power of youth social action to change lives for the better. Two years after launching Sky Academy over 250,000 young people have taken part. Sky's initiatives are showing strong results in developing young people's skills and inspiring positive actions; in school and the community. We have embedded social action into the communications of our schools Academy initiatives, ensuring our facilitators actively encourage young people to participate. We continue to recognise the qualities highlighted within social action during the recruitment process. We continue to offer two days paid volunteering time and over 10% of staff (a 40% yearly increase) have taken up this offer and worked directly with young people. We have begun to encourage other businesses, including those in our supply chain, to make their own pledges. Sky hosted an event for over 50 stakeholders from education and business to encourage participation with the #iwill campaign.

Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
"The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK. We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?"
