Safer London
At Safer London, we work with young people to embed their views and contributions into the culture of our work, as well as providing valuable volunteering opportunities to help them on their way to Education, Training and Employment. We work to ensure that volunteering opportunities are open to young people from all backgrounds and communities. We pledge to:
- Involve young people in the design, development and delivery and of our services, including volunteer and staff recruitment.
- Offer formal volunteering opportunities for young people, professionals and local community members.
- Offer a pathway to employment for volunteers and students within Safer London.
- Share the work of the #iwill campaign through our network in London communities, young people and through our online presence.
This year we have encouraged our Youth Ambassadors to increase social action by providing support and training, enabling them to influence best practice themselves. This has included representing Safer London at visits from Government Ministers, running consultations and youth panels, and informing policy.
Quote from Rebecca Cheshire, Deputy CEO
“At Safer London we encourage the young people we work with to become active participants in our work, supporting us to achieve our mission of helping young people live free from violence and crime. Our youth participation strategy enables young people to become active citizens, and we encourage, train and fully support them to bring their own experiences of growing up in London to influence best practice”
