- Enable 300 17-19 year-olds by 2015, and 1,500 17-19 year-olds by 2020, to take up high quality youth social action opportunities through a long-term 12 or 8 month volunteering placement in Africa, Asia or the Americas.
- Ensure that all of these 1,500 young people will be given the opportunity to gain a qualification in Global Volunteering and Citizenship, accredited by One Awards.
- Encourage all returned volunteers to remain active global citizens by continuing their involvement with high quality social action, for example, contributing to other causes or organisations or sharing their knowledge and experiences in primary and secondary schools across the UK.
We have enabled 279 17-19 year-olds to take up high quality youth social action opportunities through a long-term 12 or 8 month volunteering placement in Africa, Asia or the Americas.
We have ensured that these young people were given the opportunity to gain a qualification in Global Volunteering and Citizenship, accredited by One Awards.
We have encouraged all returned volunteers to remain active global citizens by continuing their involvement with high quality social action, for example, contributing to other causes or organisations or sharing their knowledge and experiences in primary and secondary schools across the UK.
Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
“The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK.
We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life.
Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?”
