Lord Levy, JLGB President
- Lord Levy will step up and help all young people to have every opportunity to serve others by encouraging the Jewish community through its schools, synagogues, charities, communities and businesses to do even more to engage and support young volunteers to have a positive impact on society.
- This will be in achieved through JLGB’s Strategy for Jewish Youth Volunteering, Social Action and Accreditation which I will help to launch in January 2014.
Over 2000 Jewish young people participated in YSA last year through:
A 120th Anniversary of JLGB celebration event for JLGB adult volunteers that I hosted at the House of Lords. It was attended by the national youth sector, Youth Minister Rob Wilson and Sir Eric Pickles.
Expansion of weekly JLGB provision across England, Scotland and Wales of positive activity programmes as part of the Uniformed YSA Fund. This will see over 400 young people fully engaged in structured activity.
Record breaking sign-ups for the DofE Award and vInspired Award with a phenomenal uptake of 50% of young people participating across all Jewish secondary schools in England.
The return of the JLGBs award-winning faith and interfaith friendly NCS brought Christian Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and those of no faith together for a 3 week social action programme, ensuring there were no barriers to participation due to faith or cultural belief.

Quote from Lord Levy, President of the JLGB
"Youth social action must be the way forward for youngsters in our Jewish faith and for youngsters from all other faiths, including the Islamic faith, to have a better understanding of each other, in order to create a path that leads to a better future for us all."
