Greggs Plc
Through our Apprenticeship scheme for young people we pledge to ensure that they continue to develop their skills through volunteering.
This fits with the aim of ‘Use our recruitment processes to encourage young people to tell us about their youth social action experience, and let them know how much we value the experience they gain through it.’
And we would incorporate the following into our recruitment process to ensure we meet this commitment;
- On the recruitment website talk about the work we do in our local communities and the importance of this to us (would liaise with Foundation and Corporate to gather statement).
- Add into the standard interview for all roles when we are talking about Greggs and it’s history etc a piece on the importance of the work we do in local communities.
- In our Retail Interview we ask as part of the interview if a candidate has done any work experience/volunteering, we would include this question in all interviews.
- We would look to add into the Greggs welcome a piece on volunteering in the local community and then give examples of volunteering that Greggs employees have previously done”.
No pledge update yet – we’ve only just made our pledge to the #iwill campaign.
Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
“The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK.
We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?”
