Demos

Demos will:
  • Bring the value of youth social action to the forefront of relevant communications (e.g., events, press)
  • Work with the #iwill campaign network to represent cross-sector perspectives of youth social action on relevant platforms, including young people’s voice
  • Share evidence on the double benefit of youth social action and findings on ways to engage more young people in playing their part (including via social media)
  • Consider ways to include young people in research and thought pieces
This year our research programme has demonstrated the importance of youth social action both through examining the topic directly - in Service Nation 2020 - and in demonstrating its value to other policy areas, most notably in Character Nation and Learning by Doing, where we looked at the role youth social action could play in delivering a character-building education system. Often this has included the views of young people through surveys, focus groups and interviews. This has meant our communications have often emphasised the importance of youth social action, including our output in the press, through social media and our programme of public events.

Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
"The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK. We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?"
