We will promote the importance and value of participating in high quality social action to every young person undertaking our qualifications each year. This will include providing ideas for helping in the local community and showcasing examples of our young people’s projects in all our publicity material. Social action is the bedrock of our Schools Partnership Project and this will be central to all our programmes which we will champion at every opportunity.
The social action carried out by disengaged young people we have worked with in schools across England has been wide-ranging, heart-warming and been proved to have had a positive impact on each one of them. In the last academic year our young participants were responsible for raising almost £3,000 for charities including the RNLI, the Dogs Trust and various local hospices. On top of that they have contributed to the well-being of their local communities in all sorts of useful and creative ways.
It has been a fantastic opportunity for disadvantaged young people to do something different, increase their skills and at the same time gain extra qualifications.
The added value that CVQO offers is to signpost participants to other opportunities such as the National Citizen Service, the Duke of Edinburgh Award and local youth organisations where they are able to continue their social action interests.
