Chairman of HMC 2014-15

  • Identify examples of innovative best practice partnerships between HMC schools and state schools in high quality youth social action, where young people work together to transform their communities.
  • Continue to support the ISC’s Community Action Working Party to disseminate this best practice across the Independent Sector and support even more young people to participate in meaningful social action.
  • Encourage members of the HMC to support National Citizen Service’s expansion across the country, enabling more young people to get involved thereby developing key character strengths.
HMC continues to work at ISC level to pull together examples of best practice for partnerships between HMC schools and state schools, whilst also encouraging its schools to work through that medium. ISC are, besides other things, designing a website ("Schools Together') to display those examples. There has been continued support for the NCS including in Uppingham, and discussions are ongoing around how to identify a consistent UK-wide response.

Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
"The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK. We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?"
