British Exploring Society
- Encourage all its young explorers to actively participate in social action projects through its Explorer Miles programme. Explorers will be able to reduce the cost of their expeditions by contributing to social action in their local area and gain accreditation through the VInspired platform. British Exploring hopes to encourage over 200 young people every year to engage in over 50 hours of social action per person. We aim to grow this figure by 50 explorers a year.
- Actively promote Social Action as a method of making its expeditions more accessible to all young people aged 18-25. Through the Explorer Miles programme we hope to engage with more explorers than ever before and encourage them to fund all or part of their expedition through social action.
- Raise the profile of social action and the #iwill campaign, including when on speaking platforms and through social media.
- Where young explorers make an exceptional contribution through social action, we will nominate them as #iwill ambassadors to shine a light on their fantastic contributions.
No pledge update yet – we’ve only just made our pledge to the #iwill campaign.
Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
“The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK.
We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?”
