Boys’ Brigade

Boys’ Brigade

  • Boys’ Brigade will pledge to increase our reach by providing an additional 5000 places by 2020.  We will aim to do this across the UK, and will insure that our expansion is fully inclusive to new communities, ensuring all young people have the opportunity to take part.
  • Boys’ Brigade will increase the role and profile of social action within the programme, and include the 6 quality principles within that work, particularly that young people take the lead.
  • Boys’ Brigade will explore how older members can support those in the younger groups to take part in social action and build this into the programme.
  • Boys’ Brigade will work with partners across Youth United to support the #iwill campaign and embed social action across our work as a network.

The Boys’ Brigade has in 2015 launched a new social action campaign ‘Our Community’ across the organisation, encouraging our 1400 local groups to get involved and make a difference in their local communities.

As an organisation we are proud that many of our groups and thousands of BB members regularly engage in social action projects, and have been showcasing the work going on, celebrating and recognising the efforts of our young people. We continue to look at how we can increase the role and profile of youth social action further in our programmes, by providing additional support and new resources.

We also continue to our work to increase our reach across the UK to provide an additional 5000 places within the BB by 2020, and have been working with local communities to start new groups and open up additional places in existing groups by strengthening our programmes and leadership.

Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
“The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK.
We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life.
Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?”
