Bishopbriggs Academy
Bishopbriggs Academy Community Action Project established by a group of S6 pupils trained by East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action pledge to facilitate community action opportunities for as many Bishopbriggs Academy pupils as they can this year and embed the project in the heart of the school.
Bishopsbriggs Academy have created greater community engagement and worked to systematically identify, co-ordinate and accredit youth volunteering by Academy pupils. Student ambassadors were encouraged to create their own community action projects, liaise with community volunteering groups and other organisations, and encourage the registration and recording of activity for Saltire Award accreditation.
Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
“The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK.
We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life.
Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?”
