Association of UK University Hospitals
- The UK’s University Hospitals commend the Step up to Serve initiative. Practical action in the service of others will not only benefit hospitals, but also those young people participating.
- The AUKUH Chief Executives commit to promoting the initiative within their hospitals. They will seek to ensure that those coordinating voluntary work identify appropriate activities for teenage volunteers and assist volunteers in reflecting on their experiences and learning from them.
The PRACTISE commitment now forms part of the NHS Employers guidance on work experience:

Our guidance to applicants on the types of work experience medical schools look for continues to promote the value of volunteering. MSC recently attended a national careers event run by the British Medical Journal where we talked about our work experience guidance and how volunteering is excellent experience for those wishing to apply to medical school.

Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
"The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK. We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?"
