Arts Award
We will inspire more young people to take part in social action through the arts. Arts Award gives young people opportunities to develop their arts and leadership skills through creative campaigning and wider volunteering . Our youth led qualifications support young people to challenge themselves and reflect on their learning whilst gaining skills for work and life.
In 2014/15, over 53,000 awards were achieved by young people. By July 2016 a total of 250,000awards will have been achieved. In promoting creative social action we will:
- Work with the NCS Trust to enable team leaders to embed Arts Award
- Support uniformed youth groups to deliver Arts Award alongside community action
- Provide tools and resources for Arts Award advisers to connect with social action
- Recognise and celebrate young people’s achievements through social action
This year Arts Award has worked to raise the profile of social action among our advisers and participants in order to support all those wishing to carry out youth social action creatively through the ars, and gain accreditation for their work.
We've published our Creative Campaigning resource launched in partnership with UK Youth, which is the first guide of its kind to directly link social action to the arts through a recognised arts qualification.

We have jointly created resources with the NCS Trust to reinforce these messages among NCS team leaders, schools and colleges.
Currently we have 2 NCS teams going through to Arts Award moderation at Bronze and Silver levels and we hope for many more to come.
