Adult Volunteers

You can make a difference

Thanks for considering becoming a volunteer. There are thousands of young people keen to take part but not enough adults to support them in doing this. You can change this.

Below is a list of some of the organisations across the UK who you can choose to volunteer with, and specific opportunities if you live in Birmingham or London. If you don’t find the right opportunity for you in the list below, here are some guidelines for exploring other possibilities:

  • Identify what you are passionate about. What would you most like to help young people achieve?
  • If you’re a parent, talk to your kids about getting involved.
  • Approach your local school and offer to help them with social action activity.
  • If you’re not a parent, talk to the young people you know about the causes that engage them.
  • Find a cause. Start a group.

Youth social action improves young peoples sense of belonging to and duty towards the communities they live in, which in turn benefits wider society by creating safer communities. We all have something to gain from young people participating more fully.

As an adult you can get involved in a number of ways, including encouraging young people close to you to get involved, and recognising and rewarding them when they do.
