Jean Tomlin OBE

Jean Tomlin is a senior executive and consultant with 35 years business experience including generalist HR, programme management and frontline operational roles, working alongside CEOs.

Jean has delivered a series of complex start-up and transformation programmes, most notably being accountable for the mobilisation of the UK’s largest peace-time workforce of 200,000, including the world-acclaimed 70,000 Games Makers, for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, for which she was awarded an OBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours.

Jean started her career as a graduate entrant at Ford Motor Company and has occupied senior positions at the Prudential, was a Founder Member and HR Director of Egg, the UK’s first Internet bank and was Group HR Director of Marks & Spencer and an advisor to the BBC.

Jean has worked extensively with the Public Sector, including as a Commissioner for Judicial Appointments, a Board member and Chair of the Remuneration Committee to the former Greenwich Healthcare Trust, Board member of the Student Loans Company and as a member of the National Curriculum Advisory Board.

Jean is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of J Sainsbury PLC and Chair of its Corporate Responsibility Committee. Jean is an Independent Director on the Board of Michael Kors and a Board Director of The Join In Trust. Jean is a thought-leader in the field of Human Resources and has spoken extensively on her views on mobilising organisations, employee engagement, communication and organisation cultural change.
