Every schoolchild from the 70s and 80s will remember these hard boiled cube shaped sweets. Back then cola of any sort was a real treat…don’t forget we were often told to make do with “corporation pop” or “duck’s ale” (ie water!) if we ran in the house thirsty from playing out. Cola was rarely on offer, so to get that cola flavour in a quarter of these sweets was a treat to be savoured.
Back then these cubes were hard boild on the outside with a soft chewy middle. Unfortunately, someone somewhere along the line decided to make these without the chewy middle! Utter sacralige! How could they? We know, we know…we agree…something should not be meddled with. However these are currently the closest we can find until we start making our own (watch this space!)
