Electrolysis is a method for the removal of hair roots or small blemishes on the skin by the application of heat using an electric current. For individual hairs we can treat all areas from the face or body. Medical electrolysis devices destroy the centre of the hair with chemical or heat energy. After a very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers. With electrolysis we can treat:
Individual hairs | Skin tags | Millia

Millia
Milia are pearly white bumps, keratin filled small cysts that lay quite superficially on the skin. They can appear anywhere on the body but are most common around the eyes and upper cheeks. They often develop where there is a blockage in the duct of the skin surface. They tend to slightly grow in size as contents of milia keratinises. They can present themselves as singular but some people can have them in very high numbers at any one time.
Electrolysis is a very quick, gentle and successful treatment for milia with no extraction, no injury to the skin and therefore very short downtime. Milia removal treatment can be performed close to eyes and on eyelids. It is a superior method to using any sharp object to extract which tends to injure the skin. The treatment is performed by an electrologist with specialist advanced electrolysis training. A tip of a small probe is used to desiccate hard, fatty tissue. This allows it to be dispersed and got rid of by the body. Since there is no injury to the skin the recovery tends to be fast. Small milia usually requires one treatment; bigger ones may need another session around 3 weeks later.
At the consultation the treatment and possible causes of milia will be explained in detail. A treatment plan is discussed and any questions answered. Following treatment you will receive aftercare instructions including points to remember to minimise milia occurring.

Skin Tags
Skin tags are small growths of skin usually on a stalk. They are viral in nature and very common. They are usually skin colour or slightly darker. They are normally found on areas of friction or where skin folds. They vary in size from a tiny speck to the size of pea or larger.
Skin tags can be quickly removed with minimal downtime using electrolysis. The treatment is performed by a specialist electrologist trained in advanced cosmetic procedures who can also remove skin tags around the eye, on the eye lid or even on and between eyelashes. The tip of a tiny probe and a small amount of current is used to dry up or remove the lesion and coagulate the blood supply. It sometimes takes only seconds to perform. For removal of a small skin tag usually only one treatment is necessary. There will normally be a small scab left after the treatment which will come off naturally.
